Among the founders of the association were its president Emir Michel Lutfallah, head of the Syrian-Palestinian Congress and private banker to the Hashemite family, the Muslim scholar Sheikh Rashid Rida, the Damascus notables Hajj Adib Khair and Fawzi al-Bakri, the Lebanese politician Najib Shuqayr, the Lebanese writer Emir Amin Arslan, and the Egyptians Ahmad Shafiq Pasha, one of the co-founders of the Egyptian University, Mohammad Pasha al-Sharii, and Fathallah Pasha Barakat, Egypt's Interior Minister.
